Just wanted to tell you how thrilled my family is with our ion kid system. We've had it for bit more than a year; we HAD to us it the first day! We went garage sale shopping with a friend, they said they'd watch Samuel (who is Autistic). Within 5 minutes the alarm sounded, he was no where to be found. She had let go of his hand and told him to, "wait there." The property had woods, a pond, a barn, and a major road. Using the locate function allowed us to find him in the opposite direction then we were looking. We found him getting back into the car about 10' from a major road. "Our family received a bracelet set for our 3 1/2 yr old son, Matthew on Dec 22nd, 2005. We used it while traveling to visit family for Christmas. It served as a great help for us. Usually, Matthew runs and tries to get out of my mothers house, and runs off of my husbands aunt and uncles property, both located in the country. It was great because Matthew regulated himself more, after hearing the alarm, and seeing the red light flashing (a fascination with Thomas the Tank engine and 'signals' meaning stop and go certainly have helped make it important to him to know what 'red and green' signify). He didn't always adhere to stopping when the alarm went off, but it certainly reduced the amount of times we had to chase him, because he chose to come back to me, or my husband, when he heard the alarm go off.

Everyone was so impressed with the Ion-Kids bracelet, and relieved that we had a little help in knowing where Matthew was. We keep a strict eye on him as much as we can, and have installed every child proofer we can think of on our doors to prevent him from leaving the house. We know that the day is coming that Matthew will figure out how to unlock the keyed deadbolt with our keys, and turn off the 'dorm room alarms' that we've purchased. We are glad that now we have the added security of his 'watch' to alert us if he outsmarts us, and heads to danger. We do all we can, but the Ion-Kids bracelet gives us an extra set of ears and eyes to watch over Matthew with us."

As a psychologist with Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO, I work with parents of children with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities in helping them manage the variety of behavioral problems their children present. One case in particular was striking. A child with Down syndrome and his family lived in a rural area. Adjacent to their home was a large farm pond. One morning the parents could not find their son, found the door open and after a frantic search of their property, feared the worst.
